Thor:
The Great and the Vast

Wait... ANOTHER Fat Thor?!
I think I have a relatively good idea what everyone is thinking. "What is this? This isn't what Thor is supposed to look like! He's all red, and FAT! We already got that from Avengers: Endgame! Why are we getting this again?"
Well dear viewer, that would be a valid critique, if we were talking about the same Thor. See, the Thor in Norse myth (what we know about Norse Myth via the Poetic and Prose Eddas) is vastly different from the Thor in Marvel.
While the Thor in both the Marvel Comics and the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe is a blonde, chiseled peak of masculinity, Thor in traditional Norse myth is more... casual. In the two Eddas, Thor is described as having red hair, not the blonde we typically see. He is also known for having a vast appetite, for food and for alcohol. He is the god of the common folk, and as a result, he likes to party with the common folk. His strength doesn't come from rigorous excercise, as it would for a normal man, but from his nature as half giant.
What you see above is my interpretation of those characteristics of Thor native to the original myth, concentrated and adapted to a digital illustration. I used Adobe Photoshop to create this work.
